Minimoto - From Scooter To Super Bike

The minimoto can trace back a lot of its origins to the mini scooter, as much as it can to the motorcycle. In fact, many mini moto manufacturers got their start working with motor bikes and scooter. Take the Blata mini motorcycle manufacturing firm. The founder of this miniature motorcycle company started mini, you could say, with an involvement in the scooter world.

The Blata Bike History

Pavel Blata began in the mini motorbike world in the early 1990s in the Eastern European country of Czechoslovakia when he helped design and build the MM2.5 motorcycles. Then in 1992, Blata came across Rastislav Brodsky at the MotoVelo Fair in Prague. Brodsky worked for a Czech motorbike company that was in the process of developing a line of miniature moto scooter, which was called the Zoom.

Success with this mini motorcycle company, however, didn't stop Brodsky from teaming up with Blata. In 1992, they launched their partnership with the Blatino moto scooter model. By 1993, Blata used the moto scooter experience to leap into mini motorcycle racing. That's when he unveiled his Elite 11 mini motor bike models. Since then, Blata has made history with such miniature motorcycle masterpieces as the 2.5 bikes and his own moto racing circuit.
